Ruland writes that he has received the photograph of the Raphael drawing belonging to Kestner, which Senator Culemann sent addressed to Ruland's predecessor, Dr. Becker. He reports that the Prince Consort was very pleased with the photograph and thought it one of the best to have come into his collection. HRH has asked Ruland to thank Herr Culemann for the trouble he has taken, and also to ask Herr Culemann to thank Herr Kestner for so kindly granting his wish for the photograph.
Ruland adds that at the Prince's request, he is sending photographs of the 9 finest drawings by Raphael from the Royal Library in Windsor for Herr Kestner, as a mark of HRH's gratitude. He comments that it was all the easier to fall in with Culemann's hint that this would be welcome because the Prince has just had the Windsor Raphael drawings photographed for exactly this purpose - to make exchanges with museums and collectors, and to make the drawings more widely known.
