EMPRESS FRIEDRICH, GERMAN EMPRESS AND QUEEN OF PRUSSIA (1840-1901)

Copy extract of letter from Victoria, Princess Royal, to Princess Helena saying that she has made arrangements for the Raphael works in Naples to be photographed.

25 Dec 1862

Loose manuscript paper | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/305

Writing from Rome, the Princess asks Princess Helena to tell Ruland that she has asked the Prussian Consul at Naples, Mr Stolte, to make enquiries and obtain the necessary permission for the photographing of any works by Raphael not yet in the Prince Consort's collection, and she suggests Ruland contact him direct to find out what progress has been made.

She thinks the Prince of Wales has spoken to Mr Severn, the British Consul, about arrangements to photograph Raphael's works in Rome.
