A series of 46 etchings by Pietro Santi Bartoli reproducing the stucco decorations of the arcades and vaults of the Loggia, designed by Raphael and executed by his workshop (c.1517-19), in the Vatican.

This series is dedicated to Bartoli's patron Cardinal Camillo Maximo, who was appointed Cardinal in 1670 and died in 1677. Pietro Santi Bartoli published another series of etchings after works in the Loggia - the Imagines veteris ac novi Testamenti in Vaticani Palatii, 1675, which reproduced the now largely destroyed frescoes of the basamento (see RCINs 853648, 853651, 853655, 853660, 853663, 853664, 853672, 853675, 853686, 853692 and 853696).

The repeating sequence of decoration in the Loggia - see Dacos 2008 (Bibliographic References) for more information - is strongly influenced by the antique; Raphael had studied antique sculpture and painting in Rome.
