The pilaster between the first and second bays of the Raphael Loggia

A chromolithograph by Alexandre-Désiré Collette reproducing the decoration of the pilaster between the first and second bays of the Loggia, designed by Raphael and executed by his workshop (c.1517-19) in the Vatican. On two sheets of joined paper.

According to Ruland (1876), this chromolithograph and another reproducing the interior pier and half-pilaster to the left of the first bay of the Loggia (RCIN 853710) were published in Paris in 1860 and edited by J. de Filippi. The representation of the pilaster and other architectural elements of the Loggia in this print is identical to that published by Giovanni Ottaviani and Giovanni Volpato in their publication Logge di Rafaele nel Vaticano (1772-7), which was presumably the source copied in the production of this chromolithograph.
