The infant Moses found by the river

A photograph of a drawing in the Staatliche Museen, Berlin (inv.no.K.d.Z.21638), considered a copy after a drawing now in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, attributed to Giovanni Francesco Penni. The drawing by Penni is the design for the fresco 'The infant Moses found by the river' painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the eighth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican.

Passavant (see Bibliographic References) referenced the drawing in this photograph as the original design for the fresco, and confused it with the drawing then (1839) held by Samuel Woodburn as part of the Thomas Lawrence estate (that now in the V&A).
