    A print reproducing a study by Raphael for the figure of Sappho, depicted to the left of the fictive moulding of the window frame in the fresco of Parnassus, painted in c.1510-11 in the Stanza della Segnatura, Vatican. Lettered with production details, title and provenance of the work. Published in 'Album de la Gazette des Beaux-Arts', Paris 1870. The figure reproduced here is a detail taken from a study sheet by Raphael now in the British Museum, London (inv. no.Pp,1.73). A photograph of it can be found at RCIN 852501.
