An engraving reproducing, in reverse, the almost entirely destroyed fresco 'Joseph addresses his brothers' painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the basamento of the seventh bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Dated at bottom right. Trimmed to platemark. On watermarked paper (possibly close to Briquet 4961).
According to Dacos (see Bibliographic References), the basamento paintings of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican were executed in grisaille and imitated bronze reliefs.
