Christ's charge to Peter

An engraving based upon a design related to Raphael's tapestry cartoon of 'Christ's Charge to Peter' (see RCIN 912945). The authorship of the engraving is often matter of dispute: formerly attributed to the School of Marcantonio Raimondi and sometimes described as in the manner of Agostino Veneziano, the engraving is now generally attributed to Nicolas Beatrizet.

As the engraving differs noticeably from all surviving studies for the tapestry cartoon (or copies after such), it has been suggested that it may be based upon a now lost drawing by Raphael.
