AFTER? RAPHAEL (1483-1520)

Two panels and the right leg of a boy

c.1853-1876

Albumen print | 24.6 x 16.1 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854388

A photograph of a drawing that Ruland (1876) catalogued as formerly in the collection of Chambers Hall. This drawing depicts sketches of a panel and the right leg of a boy and it is on the verso of a sheet with various figures (see RCIN 854387 for a photograph of the recto). Annotated on the verso.

Chambers Hall was a famous prints and drawings collector, who presented a group of important works to the British Museum and a much larger group of prints and drawings to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. A posthumous sale was held at Christie's on 14 March 1856.
