AFTER A WORK PREVIOUSLY ATTRIBUTED TO RAPHAEL (URBINO 1483-ROME 1520)

Two men on horseback

c.1860-1876

Carbon print | 19.9 x 27.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854389

A photograph of an anonymous pen and ink drawing now in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan (inv. no. 3718). This drawing depicts two men on horseback charging to the right.

In the online catalogue of the drawings of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana (see Bibliographic References), it is noted that the drawing was the source for a print by Domenico Cagnoni published in his 1795 'Guida pittorica della città e ducato di Milano' (p. 8 and pl. XX.), where he attributes the drawing to Raphael.
