LUIGI CELOTTI (1759-1843)
A sample of Raphael's handwriting?
published 1829Etching | 23.4 x 18.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854382
A facsimile etching of a torn sheet of handwriting that Ruland (1876) catalogued as previously in the collection of the Gallerie dell'Accademia, Venice. This print was listed by Ruland (1876) as having been 'published by Celotti'; by this he was presumably referring to Luigi Celotti's 'Disegni originali di Raffaello Sanzio, per la prima volta pubblicati (da Luigi Celotti), esistenti nella Imperial Regia Accademia di belle arti di Venezia' (1829). Lettered with attribution of the handwriting to Raphael, and numbered within the plate at top right: V. Annotated on the verso.
This handwriting is on the verso of a sheet depicting various nude figures (for an etching of the recto, see RCIN 854381).
