AFTER A WORK ATTRIBUTED TO RAPHAEL (1483-1520)

Studies of a standing saint, and of a male torso

c.1853-76

Albumen print | 22.9 x 14.7 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 851594

A photograph of a pen and ink drawing attributed to Raphael (c.1506-07) now in the Szépmüvészeti Müzeum, Budapest (inv. no.8306/6). It has been suggested that the figure may be a study for a figue of St Jerome or St Paul (Knab/Mitsch/Oberhuber 1983; Joannides 1983).
