A print after a painting by Raphael (c.1506) when in the collection of the Earl of Pembroke. In his Raphael Collection catalogue (1876), Ruland listed the painting as being then in the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg; in 1937 the painting passed into the possession of A. Mellon who later gave it to the National Gallery, Washington DC, where it is currently housed (inv. no.1937.1.26). Lettered with production details, date and dedication. A counterproof of this plate at RCIN 851447.
