Raphael in his studio
after 1518Engraving | 11.7 x 8.6 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850075
An engraving which is a copy in reverse of a print by Marcantonio Raimondi depicting a portrait of Raphael in his studio. See RCIN 850073 for the print by Raimondi. Trimmed within the platemark.
The engraving by Raimondi was traditionally catalogued as after a drawing by Raphael, but scholars recently suggested that it could be an invention by Marcantonio himself. Also the date is a matter of dispute. See Bibliographic References for more information.
