LORENZO QUAGLIO II (1793-1869)
Portrait of a Young Man
published 1820Lithograph | 63.9 x 48.3 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 851998
A lithograph after a painting now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (inv. no.1059). The authorship of the painting and the identity of the sitter are matters of dispute. In the past it has been suggested that the painting may be a self-portrait painted by Raphael. Ruland (1876) believed the work to be by Raphael and interpreted it as a portrait of a young man of the Riccio Family. Published in J.G. Zeller, 'Lithographirte Nachbildungen, vorzüglicher, in großen öffentlichen und privat-Sammlungen aufbewahrter, Original-Gemählde', Munich 1820.
A print after this painting is also included in the "Portraits of Raphael" section of the Raphael Collection (see RCIN 850091).
