ST. FRIES AUS NASSAU
A portrait formerly supposed to be of Raphael
c.1850-1890Lithograph | 40.8 x 30.7 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850071
A lithograph after a painting by Ferenc Balassa which is a copy of a painting that Ruland (1876) catalogued as a self-portrait of Raphael and as being then in the collection of Marchese Campana. See RCINs 850069 for a photograph of a drawing made after the original painting.
This print is lettered with the title. Lettered with the names of the printmaker the painter with publication details. Not in Ruland (1876).
This print is listed as an addition in the master copy of Ruland's catalogue (1876). Nevertheless, this is pasted on the folio sheet and the organisation of the Raphael Collection is believed to have been largely completed by 1876.
