A chromolithograph illustrating a plan, cross-sections and details of the decoration of the chapel in the Villa Magliana, the papal villa in the Roman campagna. Raphael and his workshop executed frescoes in the villa's chapel dedicated to St John the Baptist c.1513-20; the frescoes were detached in the nineteenth century and fragments of two of them are now in the Louvre, Paris, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Narbonne. Lettered with numbers, presumably referring to a key, and a scale Numbered at top right: T.1. Plate 1 in Ludwig Grüner, I freschi nella cappella della Villa Magliana, London, 1847.

Grüner's publication comprises an introduction to the Villa Magliana frescoes, written by Ernst Platner, and 5 illustrative plates. This was Grüner's second publication devoted exclusively to Raphael, and he would go on to execute another 5 volumes focusing on different works by the artist.
