Figures for Christ feeding the Five Thousands
c.1853-76Albumen print | 21.0 x 21.9 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850516
This drawing and one by Bartolomeo Ramenghi so-called Bagnacavallo now in the Royal Library, Windsor (RCIN 990736) are related to a drawing by Bagnacavallo now in the Louvre, Paris (inv. no. 4283; see RCIN 850515 for a photograph of the drawing), which was probably used as a modello for the fresco (destroyed in the late 19th century) executed by Bagnacavallo and Biagio Pupini in the refectory of S. Salvatore, Bologna. This drawing was reproduced by Giovan Battista de' Cavalieri in an engraving: see RCIN 850513 for this print. The engraving is printed in the same direction and scale of the drawing in the Louvre, but it shows some differences with it, especially in the background.
