Christ Feeding the Five Thousand

The drawing was probably used as a modello for the fresco (which was destroyed in the late nineteenth century) executed by Bagnacavallo and Biagio Pupini in the refectory of S. Salvatore, Bologna. This drawing was reproduced in an engraving by Giovan Battista de' Cavalieri: see RCIN 850513 for this print. The engraving is printed in the same direction and to the same scale as the drawing, but it there are some differences, especially in the background. Two other drawings (one by Biagio Pupini and one by Bagnacavallo) now in the Royal Library, Windsor (RCINs 990044 and 990736 respectively) are very close to two details on the right and left portion of this engraving.
