A print after the so-called 'Madonna del Pozzo', a painting by Franciabigio currently housed in the Museo degli Uffizi, Florence (inv. 1980, no.1445). The painting is erroneously attributed on plate to Raphael. Lettered with some production details. The finished state of this print was included in 'Imperiale e Reale Galleria di Firenze', Florence 1841-67.
The print shows the Infant Baptist holding a cross in his left hand and presenting an inscribed scroll to the Virgin with his right, who sits on the ground and supports the naked Christ Child with her right hand; in a landscape with a well in the left background.
