A photograph of a drawing formerly attributed to Raphael but now generally considered as a copy after an original by the master. The photographed drawing is currently in the collection of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (inv. no.WA1846.268). Another drawing of this subject was catalogued by Ruland (1876) as being then in the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, Florence. See RCIN 851252.
The photograph shows the three-quarter length Virgin, her head turned to the left, supporting the Christ Child with both hands, who stands on her left knee and rests His hands on His mother's breast.
