According to Ruland (1876), the print is based on a copy of the original painting which he catalogued as being then in Museo Nazionale in Naples (most likely now in the Museo e Gallerie Nazionali di Capodimonte, Naples, inv. no.148).
Showing the full-length Virgin holding the Christ Child with her left hand and putting her right on the head of the Infant John the Baptist, who approaches them on the left holding a cross staff, with St Joseph in the left middle-ground; in a landscape.
