'Holy Family under a Palm Tree'

As lettered on the print, the painting was then in the possession of Lord Francis Egerton (1800-1857), I Earl of Ellesmere. When catalogued by Ruland (1876), the painting was in the Bridgewater Gallery, property of the Earl of Ellesmere.
Showing the Holy Family resting under a palm tree: the Virgin sits on the right and holds the Christ Child on her right knee and supports Him with her right hand; the Child is further secured to His mother by a veil and reaches for the flowers presented by St Joseph, who kneels down before Him and supports himself with a staff held in his right hand.
