A photograph of a drawing by Raphael (c.1507) now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (inv. no. WA 1855.91v). Ruland (1876) suggested that the drawing may be a study for the figure of the Virgin in Raphael’s so-called ‘La Belle Jardinière’ (1508) now in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (inv. no.602; see RCIN 850796 for a photograph of it). On the recto of the photographed sheet is a study closely associated with the painting; for a photograph of the recto, see RCIN 850801.
