An engraving after a design formerly ascribed to Raphael or Giulio Romano. It is now generally thought that the composition is derived from a drawing (in reverse) by Perino del Vaga currently in the Louvre (inv. no.594). Dated and signed with engraver's monogram on tablet at lower centre. Lettered with Latin inscription at upper left. A photograph of Perino's drawing at RCIN 852273.
