Omen of the Greatness of Augustus

A photograph of a drawing by Giulio Romano currently in the Albertina, Vienna (inv. no.221). The drawing is a study for the left part of a painting by Giulio's studio formerly in the Sala dei Cesari of the Palazzo Ducale, Mantua. The study for the right-hand portion of the painting is housed in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle (RCIN 990308). The whole composition was engraved on a smaller scale by Giulio Bonasone (see RCIN 852217).
