Photograph of a group of nine soldiers from the Grenadier Guards who were wounded during the Crimean War. Five are standing and four are seated. All are wearing military uniform including winter coats. Part of Wellington Barracks can be seen behind. The men have been identified by their army numbers, which are handwritten around the edge of the photograph.
This photograph is one of the first portraits of wounded Crimean War veterans commissioned by Queen Victoria, and pre-dates Roger Fenton's arrival in the Crimea.
