Wounded Coldstream Guards who served in the Crimean War

Photograph of a group of seven soldiers from the Coldstream Guards who were wounded during the Crimean War. Four are standing and three are seated. All are wearing military uniform including winter coats. Several are holding a stick or have a wounded arm. From left to right, with an explanantion of their injuries, are:
Private J Burton (Shot wound of left hand at Inkerman); Private W Youle (loss of right arm at Inkerman); Private J Lansbury (Loss of left eye and wound of knee joint at Inkerman); Private J Lucas (shot wound of right hip at Inkerman); Private G Gelding (shot wound of right arm at Inkerman); Private E Jenkinson (shot wound of left knee joint at Alma) and Private H Eade (shot wound of chest and left arm at Inkerman). 

Part of Wellington Barracks can be seen behind them. Below the photograph there are handwritten numbers identifying the men as the same as those listed around the photograph above this on the page. Some damage to the negative is visible in the printing out.

This photograph is one of the first portraits of wounded Crimean War veterans commissioned by Queen Victoria, and pre-dates Roger Fenton's arrival in the Crimea.
