A large number of tents are spread out on the open ground in front of the hill. A group of soldiers carrying guns stand in front of the tents to the left. Cathcart's Hill, named after the grave of General Cathcart, was the main cemetery for British soldiers killed during the Crimean War. It was also used as an observation point as from it commanders could view the progress of the Siege of Sevastopol.
