Photograph of the Victoria Ravine. Soldiers are standing on the road at the bottom of the ravine, or sitting by the roadside. The road is littered with cannonballs and some soldiers are holding one. Halfway up the steep hillside behind there is a shelter built into the rock, the walls reinforced with sandbags.
The Victoria Ravine, also known as the Worontzoff Ravine, marked the line between the British and French forces during the Siege of Sevastopol.
