Photograph of Reverend Mr Butler and officers of the 47th Regiment. One man is mounted on a horse at the centre of the group, with another standing to the right with his left hand resting on the horse beside him. Three soldiers stand in a row to the left. There is a tent behind them. The 47th Regiment served in many of the major battles of the Crimean War including the Siege of Sevastopol.
