Photograph of a group of officers of the 71st Regiment, including Captain McDonnell. They are standing, sitting and lying in a group and most are wearing the tartan trousers of the regiment. There is a bottle and several glasses on the ground in front of them and two are smoking long pipes. Behind them is a wooden hut and a number of tents. The 71st Highlanders served during the Crimean War and fought in the Siege of Sevastopol.
