Photograph of an unknown man mounted facing left on a horse that belonged to General Barnard. A tent can be seen in the background to the right and a building to the left. General Barnard served during the Crimean War and later died of cholera on active service in India. This horse was a grandson of Marengo, Napoleon's horse at the Battle of Waterloo.
