Photograph of General Barnard (1799-1857) with Major Daniell (1827-1889), Captain Barnard and Captain Morgan (1834-1909), all members of his staff. General Barnard is seated facing slightly left with his arms and legs crossed. Major Daniell and Captain Morgan stand to the left and Captain Barnard sits on a rock to the right. All are wearing military uniform. There is an area of open land behind them. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.
General Barnard served during the Crimean War and later died of cholera on active service in India.
