Photograph of cattle and carts leaving Balaklava. Several cows and a number of wooden carts are gathered at the bottom of a rocky hill. There is a railway track in the foreground to the left.
The town of Balaklava was used as a base by the British during the Crimean War. Supplies arrived by ship into the small harbour and were transported by rail or cart to troops engaged in the Siege of Sevastopol.
