    Daguerreotype of Viscount Gough seated with his head turned slightly to the right and his left arm over the back of the chair. He is wearing a suit with a sash across his chest and the Army Gold Cross around his neck. The daguerreotype is mounted under glass with the copper plate exposed on the reverse. Viscount Gough was a celebrated British army officer. He received the Order of the Star of India from Queen Victoria in March 1861.
