    Photograph of the actress Carlotta Leclercq dressed as the character Perdita from William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. She is dressed in a Victorian shepherdess costume, standing with sheep under a tree. The background is a painted with a theatrical scene.

    Leclercq regularly appeared in supporting female roles in Shakespearean revival plays at the Princess's Theatre managed by Charles Kean. She performed as Ariel for Queen Victoria in 1854 during a private performance of The Tempest at Windsor Castle in 1854. This photograph was presented by Queen Victoria to Prince Albert at Christmas 1856.
