Photograph of a full length portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78), standing, facing towards the camera. She turns her head slightly and looks towards the left. She holds a flower in her right hand and a basket of flowers in her left. She wears a ribbon sash, frilled jacket, dark coloured pinafore and flower crown. She is dressed as the personification of 'Spring'.
