Princess Helena, on the left, stands, facing three-quarters to the right. She holds her hands together in front of her waist and holds a flower in her right hand. Princess Louise is seated, facing towards the camera. She turns her head to the left, looking away from the camera. She holds a book open with both hands, positioning the book on top of a plinth. The sisters are dressed in a similar fashion.
