Photograph of a full length portrait of Prince Leopold, later Duke of Albany (1853-84) standing, facing slightly to the right. He looks towards the camera. He places his left arm on the back of a chair. The prince wears the costume of son of King Henry IV, including a tunic with pointed collar and tights. His hat is placed on the seat of the chair.

Prince Leopold is dressed for the Bal Costumé at Buckingham Palace, an event to celebrate his 6th birthday.
