Photograph of a full length double portrait of Major Elphinstone (1829-90) and Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942). The Major is seated on chair, his legs crossed. He faces right, his face captured in profile, and places his left hand on the prince's shoulder. Prince Arthur faces towards the Major. He holds a hat in his right hand and a sword hilt in his left hand.
