Photograph of a full length double portrait of Major Elphinstone (1829-90) and Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942). The Major is seated on chair, his legs crossed. He faces right, his face captured in profile. The Major places his left hand on the prince's shoulder. Prince Arthur places his right foot on the chair seat and looks towards the camera. He holds a hat in his right hand and a sword hilt in his left hand.
