Oval hand-coloured photograph of a head and shoulder length portrait of Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942). Prince Arthur rests his arms on a red cushion on a balustrade. The photograph was originally in an oval frame, displayed with another photograph (RCIN 2374619) in Prince Albert's Dressing Room, Osborne House.

The photograph draws from Raphael's Sistine Madonna (1512), and may have been inspired by Oscar Rejalander's earlier photograph (RCIN 2906215) that similarly appropriates Raphael's painting.
