Photograph of a half length portrait of Prince Alfred, later Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1844-1900) standing, captured in profile facing right. He poses with his right hand in his pocket and his left hand resting on the back of a chair. He wears a white shirt and dark colour jacket.
The photograph was taken at Geneva in January and coloured by the Victoria, Princess Royal, later German Empress Frederick III (1840-1901) in May 1857.
