Photograph of an ornamental urn set on a pedestal within the Royal Horticultural Gardens, South Kensington. In the middle ground stands one of the first bandstands to be built in Britain and in the background are the Arcades designed by Captain Fowke.
The gardens were built on land leased from the Commissioners of the Great Exhibition of 1851 and were officially opened by the Prince Consort who was accompanied by Prince Albert Edward of Wales, Prince Arthur and the Princesses Alice, Helena and Louise.
