Photograph of the left side of the statue of Albert, Prince Consort on the Balmoral estate, looking north east with old Crathie Church in the left of the background. The Prince is depicted wearing a kilt, with a dog by his right side and holding a gun by his right side. The statue is placed on top of boulders and a wooden fence encloses the base of the statue.
The statue was unveiled on the 15th October 1867 by Queen Victoria and was designed by the sculptor William Theed (1804-91). This photograph is a later carbon copy of the original albumen photograph. Carbon was a process that was less susceptible to fading, unlike an albumen print that is prone to discolouration over time.
