Following Albert’s premature death, Victoria commissioned the creation of photographs and decorative objects that memorialised her beloved husband

Inverary Castle

Photograph of Inverary Castle. The castle has two crenelated towers at either end of a high wall with a two tiered square tower behind with large, gothic designed windows. A flag flies from the tower on the furthest right. Behind the castle towers a mountain. In the foreground is a tree standing on the left and a basket with a cloak or blanket and a walking stick place on top.
Inveraray Castle was constructed on the western banks of Loch Fyne during the 1740's by Archibald, the 3rd Duke of Argyll. Building work was completed in 1770. The village of Inveraray was also re-built following the construction of the castle.
