Works of Art Exhibited at Marlborough House, 1854: Sculpture in Marble

1854

Albumen print | 17.8 x 13.9 cm (image) | RCIN 2800216

Photograph of a relief in marble  depicting a youth in classical armour leading a rearing horse towards the right. To the right are several oak trees. A shield, helmet and sword are positioned beside the trees.

The relief probably illustrates the story of Alexander the Great's taming of the wild horse Bucephalus.
