Photograph of a painting of two men. One of the men, on the left, wears glasses and is writing on a piece of parchment. Beside him, on the right, a man points at the parchment. There is a parrot and a candle behind them.
At the time of the photograph, the painting was attributed to Quentin Massys (c.1465-1530). It is now thought the painting is by a follower of Marinus van Reymerswaele (c.1490/95-c.1567). The painting (RCIN 405707) was lent to the 1857 Manchester Art Treasures Exhibition by Queen Victoria (1819-1901) and remains in the Royal Collection.
