CARPENTER, WILLIAM HOOKHAM; KEEPER OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS, BRITISH MUSEUM (LONDON)

Letter from William Hookham Carpenter, the Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting that admission to the Print Room will be arranged for Charles Ruland.

2 Dec 1859

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/89

Carpenter writes that admission to the British Museum's Print Room is being arranged for Charles Ruland. He states that three Raphael drawings, the Nativity, the Presentation in the Temple and a study for the Infant Christ in 'La Belle Jardinière', once owned by Mr Böhm of Vienna, were presented to the Oxford University Galleries by the late Mr Chambers Hall. He adds that the other drawing mentioned by Becker is probably still in the possession of Mrs Ford.
